Maaseudun Tulevaisuus

The newspaper Maaseudun Tulevaisuus was established in 1916. The newspaper has been the chief organ of the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK) since 1917. The newspaper’s first, and until the 1970s the only, permanent photographer was Erkki Voutilainen. He took photographs for the newspaper from 1956 to 1981. The collection records changes in rural life and trades from the 1920s to the early 1980s, the mechanisation of agriculture and forestry, and changes in the rural landscape and built environment. The collection includes news photographs and portraits from Finland and abroad as well as the photographs of the Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners (MTK).
